- Passport to Knowledge is a series of interactive learning adventures connecting essential life, earth, space, and physical science concepts with exciting real-world phenomena.
- Jason Project XIII: Frozen Worlds for 2001/02 takes 4th- through 9th-grade students and teachers on an adventure to some of the colder regions of our planet and solar system.
- InventureTrevor Jones aims to be the first wheelchair user to sail around the world. His yacht Inventure, a wing-powered trimaran, has been specially adapted for the challenge.
- Around the World in 80 Days Motor ChallengeAt age 75, Ray Carr was the oldest of 101 participants in the Around the World in 80 Days Motor Challenge, held in May, June, and July 2000. Carr holds three world records for cross-country driving in vintage automobiles.
- Pride of Baltimore II, a replica of the 1812-era topsail schooner Chasseur, returned from a year-long sailing odyssey of friendship and exploration of Asia. Continue to follow the adventures of the ship by reading the captains logs as the ship goes into dry-dock and gets ready for next seasons tour of Chesapeake Bay.
- Viking 1000 Voyage follows a replica of a Viking ship as it travels from Greenland to Canada, re-creating the voyage of Leif Ericsson 1,000 ago. The wooden ship, called a knarr, set sail July 7, 1997. Read the archives and play an online game about the journey.
- McVities Polar Penguin Relay tells the story, by way of reports and pictures, of the first all-woman expedition to reach the North Pole. The site yields a rich store of information about the expedition members, the route they took, and the Arctic region in general. The trek took place in June 1997.
- Journey to the Center of the EarthFollow biologist Jim Malusa on his 1997 bike trip to the Dead Sea from this Discovery Online adventure. Students can read about Jims trip preparations and chat with experts about the different sites along his journey.
- Its America or Bust!PostCardsFrom.com is the web site of a former history teacher and her husband, a photographer and graphic designer. In 1997 they followed their dream of traveling through America in an RV. They saw all 50 states and all the state capitols and shared what they encountered through daily online postcards. Each postcard tells something about the state they were visiting that day and includes Fun Facts for students. The site also offers travel tips and a diary for parents and teachers.
- The BT Global Challenge yachts sailed from Cape Town to Boston during the summer of 1999. The race is over, but the web site has special sections for education users with virtual tours of the yachts (see inside and imagine yourself in 60-foot waves at 45 degrees and bouncing around like a cork!) and online information.
- Traveling ClassroomIn April 1997, a teacher from Woodmoor Elementary in Bothell, WA boarded a 41-foot ketch near Athens, Greece to cruise the Cyclades Islands and the Turkish coast, visiting the various historical sites and archaeological digs. Traveling Classroom provides an eyewitness view of Greece and resources that will enhance studies in Greek history, geography, culture, mythology, and art.
- Alive on EverestThe Story of Humans at Altitude includes interviews with climbers and experts, RealAudio® content, QuickTime® video of the mountain, posted responses from the climbers to viewers questions, examples of neuro-behavioral tests, extensive background features, and more!
