Original Arts Programming

Over the past five years, KET has produced more than 100 original arts programs. They have included the nationally acclaimed Signature series on Kentucky writers, The Great American Brass Band Festival, The Great Kentucky Gospel Shout Out, Tour of Kentucky Folk Music, Stage One: The Louisville Children's Theatre's production of Jemima Boone: Daughter of Kentucky, and many others.

Public Affairs Programming

KET gives all Kentucky citizens access to the Kentucky legislature with extensive coverage during its sessions, while Legislative Weekly gives viewers up-to-date reports from Frankfort during the interim. More people watch KET coverage of the Kentucky General Assembly in one session than have watched from the galleries at the capitol since the legislature first began to meet.

KET's Election '95 coverage included debates among candidates for all statewide offices in both the primary and general elections and outstanding statewide election-night coverage. With Comment on Kentucky and Kentucky Tonight, KET provides viewers with timely statewide public affairs information and commentary.

Internships

In 1995, 39 students representing 10 colleges worked in 11 KET divisions as KET interns. These students get valuable experiential education and earn college credit while working with the KET staff.

Volunteers

Friends Board members, interns, and KET network center volunteers contributed a total of 7.996 hours valued at $82,885 during fiscal year '95.

Services for the Handicapped

KET has established a captioning center in order to offer local productions with closed-captioning for the hearing-impaired.
