The Imperial China: The Art of the Horse in Chinese History exhibition was the first major international exhibit hosted by the International Museum of the Horse, but it won't be the last. The museum staff has ambitious plans for making the IMH a magnet for art lovers, both through its own collection and through other large-scale special exhibitions.

The museum is located at the Kentucky Horse Park, already a magnet for horse lovers. This working horse farm, located just north of Lexington in Kentucky's Bluegrass region, offers tours of farm operations, a daily Parade of Breeds, horse and carriage rides, and films and other exhibits tracing the relationship between humans and horses. The park also hosts special events such as an annual international three-day event competition, rodeos, and steeplechases.
