Welcome to Art On-Air
About Art On-Air Series
The twelve Art On-Air programs feature artists-in-residence from the Kentucky Arts Council teaching students how to draw, how to make African masks and books, and how to create a wide variety of other arts projects. Along with step-by-step instructions for the art projects, the programs give viewers a chance to see other students creating artwork and reflecting on their process and products. The series also features the work of famous artists as well as video field trips to visit local artists, art museums, and other exciting places that tie into the lessons. One of the main goals of Art On-Air is to inspire students to create unique works of art using the skills and methods presented in the programs. The series is also intended to teach students to see art in the world around them; to appreciate works of art and artists, past and present; to use a variety of media and tools; and to recognize elements and principles of art and design. Teacher's guides are available to Kentucky teachers at no cost. To order a guide, call KET Viewer Services at (800) 945-9167, download the guide, or check this site for lesson plans that accompany each program.
