Kentucky Symphony Orchestra's Newport Ragtime Band: The Joint is Jumpin'

Tickets are $23-$28, $18 for seniors, and $10 for students. Local jazz singer Kathy Wade, actor Deondra Means and the Cincinnati Historcial Dance Society join the band for a rollicking jaunt through popular tunes and styles from 1896-1932 (including some famous Cincinnati figures).

Jazz: Live At The Library!

Free. "The Reunion Jam" features legendary trumpeter Vince DiMartino in his first appearance of the series with Dave Anderson and Miles Osland on saxophones, Jay Flippin, piano, Bob Bryant, bass, and Dave McWhorter, drums. This is a reunion performance from the Kick-Off Show in 1990 that launched the Jazz Arts Foundation. The 1990 show "Jazz in the Bluegrass" was a KET documentary that aired statewide and featured six Lexington jazz bands in performance at UK’s Memorial Hall. The series is sponsored in part by LexArts, Jamey Aebersold Jazz, and the Jazz Arts Foundation Inc.

Overture to Healing Concert

UK HealthCare and the University of Kentucky School of Music present a special evening of music to benefit the University of Kentucky's Lucille Caudill Little Performing Arts in HealthCare Program and the Lexington Philharmonic. The concert features internationally acclaimed classical violinist Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg and the Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra. The 2010 festival kicks off June 12 with the William Branaman Street Strut People's Parade, the Taste of Henderson Barbecue, and live music in Henderson's Central Park.
