The Dance Arts Toolkit Online
This web site provides K-12 teachers with high-quality teaching resources that bring the excitement and emotion of dance into the classroom. You’ll find lesson plans, idea cards, glossaries, and many special features. Some of these, such as Kentuckians in Dance, are designed for students as well as teachers.
For Kentucky Teachers
2nd Edition Coming Soon! KET is developing a 2nd edition of the Dance Toolkit that will feature lots of new video segments, a World of Dance and Music CD-ROM, and expanded informational materials—all correlated to Dance Core Content 4.1. We taped demonstrations of dances from India, China, Nigeria, Togo, the Ivory Coast, and Latin America, as well as the tarantella, and are adding dances and information about the Cherokee, Mohawk, Apache, Navaho, Git Hoan, and Totonac nations. And some new ballet pieces are in the works. Look for an update later in the 2007/08 school year.
Dance Core Content 4.1 Correlation
Materials in the Dance Arts Toolkit, which was released in 2005, are aligned to version 3.0 of the Kentucky Core Content. Download these updates to correlate the toolkit video segments, lesson plans, and other materials to Dance Core Content 4.1.
An Award-Winning Poster!
The Dance Arts Toolkit poster/timeline, “Dancing Through Time,” won a 2006 ADDY Award from the Lexington Advertising Club.
