Exploring Technical Elements

  1. In the video excerpt from Frankenstein, what is the purpose of the split set? Is the production successful in delivering the story to the audience?
  2. What was the relationship between colors and emotions in the excerpt?
  3. How did the lighting and sound foreshadow the action?
  4. How were lighting and sound used during the climax?
  5. How did the lighting, set, and sound work together to reveal the tension experienced and expressed by the characters?
  6. Compare and contrast the uses of lighting during the dialogue and monologue.
  7. How did the lighting help to illuminate Elizabeth’s character during her monologue in the falling action and denouement of the play? Describe how lighting played a role in the reversal of Elizabeth’s character. How did it illuminate her body and voice?
