Script: Cat and Rat

Reading Dramatic Parts

Narrator: One day the cat and the rat were playing a game. The cat was losing. He did not like losing. The cat took a knife and cut off the rat’s long tail.

Rat: Give me my tail.

Cat: Give me some milk.

Narrator: So the rat went to the cow to get some milk.

Rat: Please, give me some milk.

Cow: I will, if you give me some hay.

Narrator: So the rat went to the barn to get some hay.

Rat: Please, give me some hay.

Barn: I will, if you go get the key in the shop.

Narrator: So the rat went to the shop. The shop was the place where broken things on the farm were fixed.

Rat: Please, give me the key to the barn.

Shop: I will, if you give me some coal so I can work.

Narrator: So the rat went to the coal bank to get some coal.

Rat: Please, give me some coal.

Coal Bank: I will, if you give me an eagle feather.

Narrator: So the rat looked for an eagle. He finally found one on the tallest tree on the highest ridge.

Rat: Please, give me a feather.

Eagle: I will, if you give me a pig.

Narrator: So the rat went back to the farm and asked the sow.

Rat: Please, give me a pig.

Sow: I will, if you give me some corn.

Narrator: So the rat went to the corn crib where the corn was kept.

Rat: Please, give me some corn.

Corn Crib: I will, if you go get the key from the man.

Narrator: So the rat went to the man to ask for the key.

Rat: Please, give me the key to the corn crib.

Man: OK. I’ve never seen a talking rat.

Narrator: So the man gave the rat the key.

Everyone: The rat gave the corn crib the key.

Narrator: The corn crib gave the rat the corn.

Everyone: The rat gave the sow the corn.

Narrator: The sow gave the rat the pig.

Everyone: The rat gave the eagle the pig.

Narrator: The eagle gave the rat the feather.

Everyone: The rat gave the coal bank the feather.

Narrator: The coal bank gave the rat the coal.

Everyone: The rat gave the shop the coal.

Narrator: The shop gave the rat the key.

Everyone: The rat gave the barn the key.

Narrator: The barn gave the rat the hay.

Everyone: The rat gave the cow the hay.

Narrator: The cow gave the rat the milk.

Everyone: The rat gave the cat the milk.

Narrator: The cat gave the rat his long tail back.

Everyone: The rat wiggled its tail on and wiggled away.
