General Edward H. Hobson’s Frock Coat,
c. 1863

44" H

This coat belonged to Edward Henry Hobson of Greensburg, Kentucky. Hobson was in charge of Kentucky’s Union troops. He once captured hundreds of John Hunt Morgan’s Confederate raiders. Later, Hobson was captured by Morgan, who smiled and said, “General, we meet again!” Hobson tried to stall Morgan. The next day, more Union troops came, and Morgan and his men were forced to flee. Many were captured or killed.
