The ancient Greek sculpture now known as the Venus de Milo is discovered on the Aegean island of Melos.

1934:

Japanese architect Kurokawa Kisho is born. He is one of the founders of the Metabolism Movement of architecture in Japan, an avant-garde approach to design which merged and recycled many styles of architecture around Asian philosophy.
