Russian-American author Ayn Rand begins writing what is considered her magnum opus, the allegorical novel Atlas Shrugged.

1995:

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame opens in Cleveland, Ohio. It is dedicated to recording the history of some of the best-known and most influential rock performers and producers as well as others who have in some major way influenced the industry.
