Swiss painter Paul Klee is born. He and his friend Wassily Kandinsky will both teach at the Bauhaus School of Art and Architecture.
1892:
The first performance of Tchaikovsky’s ballet The Nutcracker is given at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg. The story of the Nutcracker and the Mouse King was written by E.T.A. Hoffmann.
