Sorrowful Mysteries and Other Stories

Normandi Ellis has worked as an artist in the schools for the past six years. Currently she is the Literary Artist-in-Residency at Georgetown [KY] Middle School, teaching poetry and fiction to 6th and 7th graders. She has published two volumes of fiction, Voice Forms and Sorrowful Mysteries, which won the 1991 Bumbershoot Literary Award, and has published poetry in several regional magazines.

She is best known for her work on Egyptian mythology and for her translations from the hieroglyphs. Those books include Awakening Osiris, Dreams of Isis, and the forthcoming text Feasts of Light. She also teaches fiction writing for adults.
