A visit to Sportsman’s Hill, a historic home in Stanford, explores the house itself and the life of its builder, Revolutionary War hero and early Kentucky settler William Whitley. A renowned frontier “Indian fighter,” Whitley volunteered for the War of 1812 in his 60s and was killed at the Battle of the Thames.
