Eddyville

(#909) from Kentucky Life Program 909 (2003)

While traveling across Kentucky on U.S. Hwy. 62, host Dave Shuffett learns about some geographical changes wrought by the damming of the Cumberland River to form Lake Barkley in the 1950s. Circuit Judge Bill Cunningham shows him the original site of the town of Eddyville, flooded by the dam project, and recalls growing up on small-town streets that are now underwater.

Trouble with video in Firefox:

This is a known issue with the Window Media Video format.

Windows Media plugin is no longer maintained in Firefox, causing it to stop working.

Solution: Change the Firefox configuration file.
  1. Open a new tab or window.
In the "Location/URL" bar, type "about:config" and press Enter.
(The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page will appear. Click I'll be careful, I promise!, to continue to the about:config page.)
  2. In the "about:config" page search bar, enter:
    "plugins.load_appdir_plugins"
  3. Double click the preference name to change the "value" to true.
  4. Close and restart Firefox. The video should now work once you reopen the page.
If not, then the WMV plugin may not be installed.
