Berea College

An overview of the history of Berea College, produced by the college. Founded by abolitionist and minister John Fee in the late 1860s, Berea was the first racially integrated and coeducational institution of higher learning in Kentucky. Dedicated to serving underprivileged students in Appalachia, it charges no tuition but instead requires students to work.
