Days of Yore

(#326) Highland Renaissance Festival

The Highland Renaissance Festival, held in Eminence each summer, takes visitors back to 14th and 15th century Scotland. Interviewed are Anthony De Caro, a blacksmith; “Honey Skep,” a cast member; Leo Schreiber, a bowyer (someone who makes bows); and Jeff Rooks, a member of Minstrel Woode. This segment is an excerpt from KET’s Kentucky Life program.

Trouble with video in Firefox:

This is a known issue with the Window Media Video format.

Windows Media plugin is no longer maintained in Firefox, causing it to stop working.

Solution: Change the Firefox configuration file.
  1. Open a new tab or window.
In the "Location/URL" bar, type "about:config" and press Enter.
(The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page will appear. Click I'll be careful, I promise!, to continue to the about:config page.)
  2. In the "about:config" page search bar, enter:
    "plugins.load_appdir_plugins"
  3. Double click the preference name to change the "value" to true.
  4. Close and restart Firefox. The video should now work once you reopen the page.
If not, then the WMV plugin may not be installed.
