Features community efforts to reduce the incidence of domestic violence, abuse, and neglect; encourage reporting of existing abuse; and support the victims. The Appalachian Violence Outreach Network serves women in Breathitt, Lee, Owsley, and Wolfe counties who have survived interpersonal violence or traumatic stress. The Advocacy and Support Center in Hardin County offers crisis counseling, referral services, medical support, therapy, and advocacy services for victims of rape and child abuse as well as community education on the issues. And schools throughout Kentucky are trying a variety of ways to eliminate bullying.
