Distinguished Kentuckian

(#111) Bert Combs

Bert T. Combs served as governor of Kentucky from 1959 to 1963. He created a merit system for state government workers that is still in place today, appointed the state's first Human Rights Commission, and ordered the desegregation of all public accommodations in Kentucky. In this 1974 KET production, he is interviewed by education reform advocate Ed Prichard.

Trouble with video in Firefox:

This is a known issue with the Window Media Video format.

Windows Media plugin is no longer maintained in Firefox, causing it to stop working.

Solution: Change the Firefox configuration file.
  1. Open a new tab or window.
In the "Location/URL" bar, type "about:config" and press Enter.
(The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page will appear. Click I'll be careful, I promise!, to continue to the about:config page.)
  2. In the "about:config" page search bar, enter:
    "plugins.load_appdir_plugins"
  3. Double click the preference name to change the "value" to true.
  4. Close and restart Firefox. The video should now work once you reopen the page.
If not, then the WMV plugin may not be installed.
