(#305) New Directions In Arts Education

This program examines how studying dance, drama, visual arts, and music contributes to student success. It also explores Kentucky's changing approach to teaching and assessing the arts as well as community partnerships that support the arts in schools. Guests include: Robert Duncan, arts and humanities consultant, Kentucky Department of Education; Sara Francis, orchestra teacher, Athens-Chilesburg Elementary School and Edythe J. Hayes Middle School, Fayette County; and Scottie Billiter, assistant principal, Letcher County Central High School.

Trouble with video in Firefox:

This is a known issue with the Window Media Video format.

Windows Media plugin is no longer maintained in Firefox, causing it to stop working.

Solution: Change the Firefox configuration file.
  1. Open a new tab or window.
    In the "Location/URL" bar, type "about:config" and press Enter.
    (The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page will appear. Click I'll be careful, I promise!, to continue to the about:config page.)
  2. In the "about:config" page search bar, enter:
    "plugins.load_appdir_plugins"
  3. Double click the preference name to change the "value" to true.
  4. Close and restart Firefox. The video should now work once you reopen the page.
    If not, then the WMV plugin may not be installed.
