Kentucky Life

(#1106) The Liberian Connection

Travels to Africa to explore the origins of Liberia, a country founded by African-American slaves who were offered their freedom if they were willing to leave America and start a new nation in West Africa. In an area still referred to as "Kentucky in Africa," the principal town, Clay-Ashland, was named to honor Henry Clay, U.S. senator from Kentucky and president of the American Colonization Society in the 1800s. A 2005 KET production.

Trouble with video in Firefox:

This is a known issue with the Window Media Video format.

Windows Media plugin is no longer maintained in Firefox, causing it to stop working.

Solution: Change the Firefox configuration file.
  1. Open a new tab or window.
In the "Location/URL" bar, type "about:config" and press Enter.
(The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page will appear. Click I'll be careful, I promise!, to continue to the about:config page.)
  2. In the "about:config" page search bar, enter:
    "plugins.load_appdir_plugins"
  3. Double click the preference name to change the "value" to true.
  4. Close and restart Firefox. The video should now work once you reopen the page.
If not, then the WMV plugin may not be installed.
