Bill Goodman speaks with author, educator, and pastor Dr. Gerald Smith, associate professor of African-American history at the University of Kentucky. Smith has been involved in a project to publish the papers of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and is a co-editor of the forthcoming Kentucky African American Encyclopedia. A 2008 KET production.

Trouble with video in Firefox:

This is a known issue with the Window Media Video format.

Windows Media plugin is no longer maintained in Firefox, causing it to stop working.

Solution: Change the Firefox configuration file.
  1. Open a new tab or window.
    In the "Location/URL" bar, type "about:config" and press Enter.
    (The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page will appear. Click I'll be careful, I promise!, to continue to the about:config page.)
  2. In the "about:config" page search bar, enter:
    "plugins.load_appdir_plugins"
  3. Double click the preference name to change the "value" to true.
  4. Close and restart Firefox. The video should now work once you reopen the page.
    If not, then the WMV plugin may not be installed.
