Kentucky Time Capsule

(#111) Knee High to a Sculpture

In the early 1970s—before she became a playwright and won both a Pulitzer Prize and a Tony Award—Marsha Norman worked in her hometown of Louisville as a social worker, teacher, and freelance writer. In this film, young Marsha makes Louisville's statues "talk" for a group of schoolchildren.

Trouble with video in Firefox:

This is a known issue with the Window Media Video format.

Windows Media plugin is no longer maintained in Firefox, causing it to stop working.

Solution: Change the Firefox configuration file.
  1. Open a new tab or window.
In the "Location/URL" bar, type "about:config" and press Enter.
(The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page will appear. Click I'll be careful, I promise!, to continue to the about:config page.)
  2. In the "about:config" page search bar, enter:
    "plugins.load_appdir_plugins"
  3. Double click the preference name to change the "value" to true.
  4. Close and restart Firefox. The video should now work once you reopen the page.
If not, then the WMV plugin may not be installed.
