The Battle of Mill Springs

(#516) from Kentucky Life Program 516 (1999)

Newspaper editor and Civil War reenactor Stephen Bowling explains the historical significance of the Battle of Mill Springs. Confederate Brig. Gen. Felix Zollicoffer was killed at this January 1862 engagement in Wayne County, and the resulting disarray among his command led to a defeat that marked the beginning of the end for the Southern attempt to hold Kentucky.
