Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill

(#1305) from Kentucky Life Program 1305 (2007)

Host Dave Shuffett visits the restored Shaker village at Pleasant Hill, on the Kentucky River in Mercer County, to explore the lives and beliefs of the Shakers. An offshoot of the Quakers founded by Mother Ann Lee, the Shakers practiced strict celibacy, devoted their days to work and worship, and developed much admired agricultural and design practices.
