Down on the Farm: Food Literacy

A trip to the farm with local schoolchildren participating in the Food Literacy Project. Carol Gunderson, project director, explains how the hands-on experience helps children learn more about organic and local agriculture. Also interviewed are farmer Ivor Chodkowski, project volunteers Beth Brokaw and Judy Gardner, and Hope Schmidlapp, a teacher at Whitney Young Elementary.

Trouble with video in Firefox:

This is a known issue with the Window Media Video format.

Windows Media plugin is no longer maintained in Firefox, causing it to stop working.

Solution: Change the Firefox configuration file.
  1. Open a new tab or window.
    In the "Location/URL" bar, type "about:config" and press Enter.
    (The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page will appear. Click I'll be careful, I promise!, to continue to the about:config page.)
  2. In the "about:config" page search bar, enter:
    "plugins.load_appdir_plugins"
  3. Double click the preference name to change the "value" to true.
  4. Close and restart Firefox. The video should now work once you reopen the page.
    If not, then the WMV plugin may not be installed.
