A brief profile of James Graham Brown, the noted entrepreneur and philanthropist. Born in Madison, IN, in 1881, Brown ran a lumber company and built the Brown Hotel, among many other projects. He donated to many causes throughout his life, helping to establish the Louisville Zoo, and was an avid horseman. He died in 1969, and the bulk of his estate—valued at $80 million—was bequeathed to the charitable foundation that bears his name.
