Spotlights programs that are educating Kentucky's student population, as well as parents and school staff members, in good health habits. Health Promotion Schools of Excellence in Jefferson County is a wide-ranging effort to promote and maintain healthy lifestyles. The Healthy Kids Centers provide free medical, mental health, and oral health services to students at high-poverty schools in Fayette County. The Literacy, Eating and Activity for Preschoolers Health Program in Lexington uses storybooks to teach children about health and nutrition. And Lexington's VERB Summer Scorecard program aims to increase activity among "tweens" (9- to 13-year-olds).
