A round-up of community efforts to improve health literacy among Kentuckians of all ages. Featured projects are Health Access Nurturing Development Services, a voluntary home visitation program for first-time parents based in Lewis County; school health education programs operated by the Lewis County Primary Care Center; the Larue County Coordinated School Health Initiative, which emphasizes fitness and nutrition for children and families; the Living Well Workshops: Chronic Disease Self-Management Program in Louisville; efforts to reach out to Spanish-speaking citizens by Promotores de Salud; the health advocacy services of Kentucky Homeplace; and various programs run by the Council of State Governments.
