Pine Mountain Settlement School

A look at the past and present missions of the Pine Mountain Settlement School in Harlan County. Founded in 1913 to provide elementary education to mountain children who otherwise had almost no access to it, the school first evolved into a high school emphasizing vocational education and now serves as a community center and environmental education institution.
