Shaker Village After the Shakers

Between the death of the last Shaker living at Mercer County’s Pleasant Hill in 1923 and the start of restoration work in the 1960s, the buildings and lands of the Shaker settlement were put to a variety of other uses. Former residents from that time and descendants of former Shakers recall life in the village and discuss the sect’s legacy to modern America.
