Three World War II veterans’former Indiana Gov. Edgar Whitcomb, Gen. Philip Ardery, and Judge Henry Meigs—share their personal stories. Whitcomb created a false identity to avoid execution as a prisoner of war in the Philippines; Ardery flew cover on D-Day and was the first commander of the Kentucky Air National Guard; and Meigs was a fighter pilot in the South Pacific and founded the Kentucky Air National Guard.
