Re-energize your students with these fun, contemporary dance routines! Fit Kids’ Classroom Workout can be used in any school space, anytime, any day, to invigorate and motivate your students. It gets students excited about being physically active and provides an ideal break from the day’s routines. It can also be used as a warm-up to other physical activity.
The series includes four 5-minute and two 10-minute workouts, plus a brief “healthy message” at the end of each excercise segment. The two 10-minute choreographed workouts link the moves that have been taught during the four shorter workouts, while the six healthy messages provide basic information about the importance of a healthy lifestyle. Each classroom workout teaches moves from a different genre.

This award-winning program on sexual harassment in schools contains three video modules. The first two, “What Is Sexual Harassment?” and “Stopping Sexual Harassment,” use reenactments and dramatized interviews to define sexual harassment; show the various effects it can have on students; and show students how to respond to offensive behavior, whether they are targets or bystanders. The third module, designed for teachers, is hosted by Nan Stein of the Wellesley College Center for Research on Women.
This program has been flagged for content and/or language. KET strongly encourages teachers to preview the program before showing it to students. Contact KET’s Education office, (800) 432-0951, ext. 7261, for more information.

Street Skills is a driver’s education series designed to help teenagers become safer, more responsible drivers. Interviews with experts and computer animation get beyond the basics to explore the mechanics, physics, psychology, and biology of driving. Interviews with police officers, accident victims, and other authorities show how careless driving can lead to serious trouble. A new Street Skills “extra” will be added to the series in March 2010 to help teens understand why texting, Twittering and talking on the cell phone can be dangerous distractions.

Designed for adults who are looking for a job or want to improve their skills in order to get or keep a better job, Workplace Essential Skills shows high school students what to expect from the job application process, what skills and attributes employers look for, and how those skills are put to work in real on-the-job situations. The first eight programs help the learner develop career goals and realistic plans for attaining those goals. The four programs in the Communication Skills component explore customer service, teamwork, and conflict-resolution strategies. The series also includes instructional programs in writing, reading, and mathematics within a workplace context. These programs may be used as remedial help for students who need to improve basic skills in these areas. The accompanying workbooks are written at a 6th to 7th grade reading level. Produced by KET as part of the PBS LiteracyLink Project.
