Tuesday Knitters

Tuesday Knitters knit for charity in downtown Jeffersonville. The group sends its sweaters to Knit for Kids, which gives them to disadvantaged children in impoverished areas here and abroad. The dozen or so community knitters recently celebrated completion of the group's 1,000th hand-knitted sweater.

For the past 12 years, the Tuesday Knitters have met weekly at St. Luke's United Church of Christ in Jeffersonville.

In addition to Knit for Kids, the group has made items for U.S. troops in Iraq, newborns, cancer patients, and Warm Up America, a blanket-donation program.

In this Louisville Life story, we learn how the group got its start and meet the knitters who are warming hearts and souls.

For additional information on the Tuesday Knitters, contact the church at 282-3383. You can also make donations of money or supplies to: Tuesday Knitters, c/o St. Luke's United Church of Christ, 329 Walnut St., Jeffersonville, IN 47130.
