Louisville Skating Academy (LSA)

Itís a holiday tradition; The Nutcracker. But if you have a picture of ballet dancers moving beautifully across the stage, think again! In 2008 there's a unique production of this classic in Louisville -- and it's on a cold rink! The skaters at the Louisville Skating Academy (LSA) give us a preview of the limited-engagement show.

Louisville Skating Academy is a non profit organization dedicated to promoting and developing the sport of figure skating in the Louisville area. LSA is a member of U.S. Figure Skating (USFS). U.S. Figure Skating is recognized by the International Skating Union (ISU), and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the governing body of figure skating in the United States. Visit the LSA website for information on classes and other skating programs.

Performances for The Nutcracker on Ice are only one weekend; December 19-21, 2008, at the Iceland Skating Complex in Louisville.

Costumes for the LSA's special production of The Nutcracker are being provided by Louise Cecil Costumes. Learn about this unique homegrown business in this Louisville Life segment.
