Louisville Astronomical Society (LAS)
In celebration, we go stargazing with the Louisville Astronomy Society.
The Louisville Astronomical Society (LAS) was founded in 1933 by University of Louisville professor Walter L. Moore and a small group of students.
Through the years, the LAS has dedicated itself to providing programs and observations for the public - including adult education courses, scout merit badge programs, library and museum programs, lectures, and public parks observations throughout Metro Louisville.
One star attraction is the Society's urban astronomy center at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park, where this story was filmed.
LAS is a member of the International Dark Sky Association, NASA's Night Sky Network, and the NASA After School Astronomy Programs.
To learn more about LAS, see photographs of their observations, and get a listing of their events, visit their website.
