Lincoln Elementary Arts Magnet

Lincoln Elementary is the first Jefferson County Public School (JCPS) elementary performing arts concept school of its kind.

In addition to a strong emphasis on academics, Lincoln integrates the core curriculum with drama, music, and dance. This ensures that students experience the entire performing arts process.

"Louisville Life" visits with Tim King, JCPS’ new Director of Performing Arts, to discuss the new performing arts magnet program at Lincoln Elementary and their exciting upcoming Performing Arts Academy plans.

Lincoln is one of more than a dozen new magnet programs the district recently implemented at more than 20 elementary schools, all in an attempt to give parents more school choices, improve student achievement and help the district maintain diversity in its downtown and western Louisville schools.

Community partnerships with leading arts groups will provide experiences and instruction at Lincoln Elementary unlike any other. These partnerships include, but are not limited to: Actors Theatre of Louisville, The Kentucky Center, Stage One and Walden Theatre.
