Kentucky Nurses Association
2006 marked the centennial of the Kentucky Nurses Association, headquartered in Louisville. Louisville Life’s Veterans Day salute to the organization looks at the current state of nursing in the area, while also paying tribute to the KNA’s past with the stories of four Kentucky nurses who were POWs in World War II.
Established in 1906, the Kentucky Nurses Association is the only full-service professional organization for the state’s entire nurse population. In addition to promoting the essential role of the registered nurse in health care delivery, the KNA serves as an advocate for quality patient care in all settings. From the halls of the capitol and state agencies in Frankfort to boardrooms, hospitals, and other health care facilities around the state, the KNA is a strong voice for the nursing profession in Kentucky.
