John Mellencamp

Award-winning rock singer/songwriter and guitarist John Mellencamp was born October 7, 1951 in Seymour, Indiana. Also credited as John Cougar and John Cougar Mellencamp, he has had a long and successful recording and performing career (see bio at VH1.com). Highlights include a series of 1980s hits, including “Jack and Diane” and “Hurts So Good,” and several appearances in the Farm Aid charity event. Mellencamp also began a screen career as director and actor in 1992’s Falling from Grace, a story by Lonesome Dove author Larry McMurtry.
