A bicycle-friendly community provides safe accommodations for cyclists and encourages residents to bicycle for transportation and recreation. The city of Louisville set an official goal of becoming more bicycle-friendly at the Metro Louisville Bicycle Summit in 2005. The initiatives kicked off there resulted in the Bicycle Friendly Louisville Plan, which outlines long-term objectives.
In addition to the city’s initiative, local businesses are jumping on the bike bandwagon. Featured in this Louisville Life segment is Jackie Green, manager of the Bike Depot, a courier service and bike shop.
