Online Video Available
University of Kentucky President Lee Todd and University of Louisville President John Shumaker join Al Smith to discuss issues of collaboration between Kentuckys only doctorate-granting universities. The presidents visit marks the first time Todd and Shumaker have shared an appearance on KETs airwaves.
Todd and Shumaker discuss their schools efforts to work together, including initiatives designed to reduce academic duplication and competition and to enhance budgetary and scholarly partnerships between the two universities.
Appearing together on the eve of the annual UK-U of L season-opening football game, the presidents also address their plans to ensure that their universities sports programs comply with NCAA standards.
The presidents appearance is the third in a series of Comment on Kentucky programs focusing on higher education in Kentucky. The previous programs featured one-on-one interviews with Gordon Davies of the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education and outgoing UK President Charles Wethington.
