In Performance at the Governor's Mansion
A showcase of Kentucky’s best and brightest performers, featuring music, dance, dramatic readings, poetry, and more.
Everett McCorvey

Everett McCorvey, professor of voice at the University of Kentucky, has performed professionally with the Metropolitan Opera Company; Radio City Music Hall; the Aspen Music Festival; and the Teatro Comunale in Florence, Italy and in the movie The Long Walk Home. He continues to perform as a solo artist; with his wife, Alicia Helm; and with such groups as the American Spiritual Ensemble, which he founded.

At UK, McCorvey has had a dramatic effect on the vocal music program, which has more than doubled in size and has attracted enthusiastic audiences for its performances, ranging from opera to Broadway. He is featured in three In Performance programs: the series premiere, the special “A Grand Night for Singing,” and the “On the Road to The Kentucky Center” edition featuring the American Spiritual Ensemble.

McCorvey is also the subject of Impresario, a film portrait by Eren McGinnis and Ari Palos that was supported in part by the KET Fund for Independent Production. It premiered on KET in August 2002.
