In Performance at the Governor's Mansion
A showcase of Kentucky’s best and brightest performers, featuring music, dance, dramatic readings, poetry, and more.
The Louisville Ballet

For In Performance, the Louisville Ballet performed excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty with the Louisville Orchestra. Featured dancers were Elizabeth Hartwell, Dale Brannon, Clark Reid, Robbie La Turner, and Kenneth Braso in the “Rose Adagio” and Mikelle Bruzina and David Goud in the “Bluebird Pas de Deux.”

The Louisville Ballet, the state ballet of Kentucky, was formed in 1952 as a civic ballet and has grown into a professional company. In 1978, Alun Jones was selected as the artistic director; he continues in that post today. The company has 30 professional dancers as well as a civic company chosen from the Louisville Ballet School for large productions. It moved to its current location on East Main Street in downtown Louisville in 1995.

The Louisville Ballet stages a regular subscription series of performances as well as a series of educational outreach programs.
