Homer Ledford knows bluegrass music as both a performer and an instrument maker. For about 50 years he has been hand-carving dulcimers, guitars, banjos, and fiddles. And when hes not creating the instruments, hes playing them, either as a solo artist or with his band Cabin Creek. He specializes in the traditional style nurtured by Bill Monroe and Earl Scruggs and keeps his audiences amused between songs with folksy humor. Although born in Tennessee, he now calls Winchester home.
For In Performance, Homer played old-style string music and bluegrass on fiddle, banjo, the saw, and another mysterious instrument of his own invention.
