Tanita Gaines and her current band, The Accused, are fixtures of the Louisville music scene, performing a mix of R&B and jazz. Fans of KETs Jubilee will recognize her from her performance on that series, which is now seen across the country.
A Louisville native, Tanita began her music career as a child, singing gospel music in the childrens choir, and landed her first professional gig at the age of 16. With a voice that has been compared to Aretha Franklins, she has lent her vocal talents to Anatomy, the Joe Wells Blues Band, the Stormy Monday Blues Band, and the Rusty Ends Blues Band. She also has opened for James Brown, Koko Taylor, and countless other headliners.
Despite her wide range of vocal styles and music genres, Tanita contends that her roots are firmly planted in gospel music. She is a featured soloist for the Tabernacle Choir of St. Stephen Baptist Church in Louisville.
Tanita has received many awards and accolades, including being named the Official State Song Bird by former Gov. Brereton C. Jones. Shes currently at work on a new CD.
