Late great sports announcer Cawood Ledford brings his unique touch to Casey at the Bat as part of this evening of song, poetry, and soaring symphonic music designed to bring some life into the lazy days of summer. Hosted by Sky Yancey, its an on-the-road special edition taped in 1998 at the Center for Rural Development in Somerset.
The program features the music of the Lexington Philharmonic under the direction of Dr. George Zack. The orchestra is joined for a tribute to George Gershwin by soprano Vertrelle Cameron-Mickens, who performs Summertime from Porgy and Bess, and pianist Cliff Jackson, who plays Rhapsody in Blue. The SCAPA Chamber Ensemble, directed by Janet Graham, also performs.
