Singers and musicians from the University of Kentucky—both faculty members and students—and the community take the stage to perform Tony Award-winning Broadway tunes in this special 90-minute In Performance at the Governor’s Mansion honoring UK’s “It’s a Grand Night for Singing.” This annual event is sponsored by the UK College of Fine Arts School of Music and Opera Theatre.

The program opens with Roger Leasor and company performing “Comedy Tonight” from A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. The evening also includes tunes from such favorite Broadway musicals as The Sound of Music, West Side Story, Mame, Showboat, Fiddler on the Roof, and A Little Night Music. On tap as well are two tributes—one to Jule Styne and the other to Duke Ellington. The performance concludes with a rousing rendition of “It’s a Grand Night for Singing” from State Fair.

Artistic Directors Everett McCorvey and Jim Rodgers created the program, which truly offers something for everyone.
