Jackie Gulbe, Metro Animal Services

Jackie Gulbe is assistant director of community relations with Metro Animal Services.

Gulbe has been promoting responsible pet ownership and adoptable animals for the past 17 years through a variety of media outlets. Weekly spots include; WHAS 11's Noon Newscast, weekend mornings on WLKY with Jim Bulliet, The Terry Meiners Show, 99.7 WDJX with Ben and Kelly K., and The Lambert and Lindsey Show on the Max FM 102.3.

In this Louisville Life interview, Gulbe discusses National Pet Week and the importance of pet adoption and care.

Gulbe started her career in animal welfare as a volunteer for the Kentucky Humane Society, where her involvement led to the position of Development Director for the Kentucky Humane Society from 1991-1997. While at the Kentucky Humane Society Gulbe established events such as Tuxes and Tails, the annual Pet Walk-a-thon, their direct mail campaign, donation doghouse program and the very first satellite adoption program in the area with Enviro Pet.

Gulbe was host of the four-time Telly Award-winning and Cable Ace Award-nominated television show Pet Project with her dog Murphy as co-host from 1996 to 2001. Since 2002, Gulbe has hosted Animal Answers Live! (a weekly call-in show) on Insight Cable.

For the past eleven years, Jackie Gulbe has worked with Metro Animal Services,the Animal Care Society, the Shamrock Foundation, and the Animal Protection Association to promote their animals for adoption.

She was a speaker at the Humane Society of the United Statesí 2003 Animal Care Expo and received the 2004 Furball Media Award. Gulbe has also completed the National Animal Control Associationís Level II training course and attended the Humane Society of the United States National Conference on Disaster.

Jackie Gulbe is a Louisville native and a graduate of the University of Louisville. She has one female dog, named Paux.
