When it comes to retail, the Crescent Hill neighborhood's unique Just Creations is a world apart from the masses.
This Fair Trade store offers items from over 35 countries throughout Asia, Africa and Central and South America, including handcrafted ceramics, jewelry, home décor, musical instruments, baskets and much more. The sale of these products helps to provide a fair wage for the artisans and enables them to pay for food, education, health care, and housing.
Unlike a typical retail store, Just Creations is a not-for-profit organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and most of the staffing and support work is accomplished by more than 30 volunteers.
At the time of airing, Just Creations is Louisville's sole representation in the Fair Trade Federation. The Fair Trade Federation strengthens and promotes North American organizations fully committed to expanding markets for artistians and farmers globally.
