The Vernon, at 1575 Story Avenue, is the oldest bowling alley in the Louisville area and stakes a claim to being the third oldest in the United States. Louisvillians have been heaving heavy black balls down these Butchertown lanes since 1886.
The Vernonís web site includes an outline of its colorful history (PDF document). Meanwhile, as our profile demonstrates, the club and the building are undergoing a rebirth.
